Lorentz Center, Netherlands, 14-18 July 2025
Summary
This workshop will bring together researchers from different backgrounds who work broadly on Diophantine problems to make new connections across their respective fields. The problem of finding integer solutions to polynomial equations (Diophantine equations) is central to many interconnected subfields, ranging from metric Diophantine approximation and transcendence theory to dynamical systems, recurrence sequences, and even theoretical computer science, particularly regarding software verification. We intend to give the participants an opportunity to actively pursue connections between the newest developments in these respective fields, together with the leading researchers in each of these subjects. Our workshop coincides with the retirement of Jan-Hendrik Evertse from the University of Leiden, who has made significant contributions to Diophantine problems throughout his career.
We gratefully acknowledge support from the Yerli Foundation, the Lorentz Center, and the Mathematical Institute at Leiden University.
